Layer Construction - Zinus 12 inch Mattress

Top Memory Foam Layer: 3 inch memory foam layer. This memory foam layer is what conforms and aligns with body curvature at pressure points like neck, shoulder and hips.
The more it hugs to your body, the superior is the experience of sleeping on memory foam mattress. It provides right amount of sink, dipping by just 1 or 1.5 inch thus helping you sleep on your back, sides and stomach.
Mid Comfort layer: 2 inch poly comfort foam layer that is sandwiched between top soft memory foam and high density foam layer. It acts as secondary memory layer taking additional pressure from the top comfort layer.
It draws weight from top memory foam layer and distributes it evenly across the entire mattress surface area much needed to achieve motion isolation feature.
Mid High Density Layer: 3.5 inch air flow high density layer. It’s designed to draw heat from top layers and dissipate it downwards and away from the body thus creating a cooler sleeping surface.
Base High Density Foundation Layer: Most base layers are solely designed to sustain weights from top layers and not to sink further downwards to avoid bottoming out. Whereas, base high density air flow foundation layer in Zinus mattress is selectively designed to perform both heat dissipation with air flow columns and sustain weights to support critical pressure points without bottoming out.
Cover: Made from knitted Jacquard, the cover is both soft in feel and highly breathable. The basic ventilation through partially transparent layer reduces heat retention around top memory foam and secondary comfort foam layers.
Heat Dissipation
Even though Zinus mattress does not have gel layer with beads to provide extra cooling effect but the way the top 3 layers plus the breathable cover are included in one unit, make Zinus mattress as much cool as any other gel memory foam mattress. I have reviewed several memory foam mattresses but Zinus memory foam mattress is class apart.
Alignment To Body Curvature
Literally the top 3 inch memory foam layer hugs to your body curvature, perfectly aligning around neck, shoulder and hip areas. And the sink too won’t be more than 1 inch to 1.5 inch deep.
This ensures that you enjoy the comfort of sleeping on a memory foam mattress yet won’t sink deep into it. Yes, 3 inch memory foam sinking by 1 to 1.5 inch when you lie on it means it is great for people with average to above average weight.

Motion Isolation
The top layer is also known to quickly bounce back to its original shape. The moment you lie on it, the layer sinks by an inch or so and the moment you get off the mattress, well within 3 seconds the memory foam layer gets back to its original flatness. This is very important while measuring motion isolation offered by any mattress.
Zinus comfortably passed the motion isolation test. It not only offered limited sink but also bounced back to its original flat shape pretty much quickly, within 2 to 3 seconds span on an average drawn after several iterations.
The 3 inch secondary support layer and the bottom 6 inch base foundation layer sustain weights up to 400 lbs without scope for bottoming out with increased weights. In case of Zinus mattress, as we discussed earlier about 1 to 1.5 inch dipping of the top memory layer which means the mattress is perfectly aligning around pressure points like neck, shoulders and hip.
